¡Bienvenido al Mundo Hispanohablante!
We begin the study of the Spanish language at Califon School by becoming accustomed to the sounds of the Spanish language. Students begin to develop an ability to recognize and use vocabulary in everyday situations, using simple yes/no and short phrase answers. Later we use vocabulary in simple statements and questions. Conversing naturally in everyday situations using short phrases, then complete, and later complex sentences is a goal throughout. Songs, games and ‘hands-on’ experiences are vital to our classes.
Exploration of the differences between our school and family life, climate, and social celebrations and that of Spanish-speaking countries is also an important component of our studies. We use song, dance and everyday life to experience and understand those cultures.
