EMERGENCY CLOSINGS/DELAYED OPENINGS In the event of inclement weather, each parent needs to listen to NJ 101.5 FM where you can find out if school will be closed for the entire day or whether there will be a delayed opening. This information is also available at www.NJ1015.com In addition, these announcements will also be made on News 12 New Jersey which is channel 62 on Comcast Cable. If school is closed for the day or if there is a delayed opening: The Chief School Administrator will call the PTA President who in turn will start the PTA calling chain. Each family will receive a call. In the event of a delayed opening, school will open at 10:20 a.m. All students must remain in school for lunch on a day with a delayed opening. No one is permitted to leave the building for lunch. On a delayed opening day, Kindergarten will be dismissed at 12:50 p.m. In the event of an early closing, whether it is due to bad weather or some other type of building emergency (no heat, no water, no electricity, etc.) the following procedure will be followed: The Chief School Administrator will call the PTA President. The PTA President will in turn contact the homeroom mothers who in turn will attempt to contact each of the parents or emergency contacts that they are responsible for calling. Please understand that it is the parent's responsibility to inform their children of where they would go in the event of such an emergency as described above. It is always a possibility that the homeroom mothers will not be able to contact each and every parent in the event of an early closing. Every attempt will be made to do just that - however, please talk to your children so they know where they are to go if an early closing of school should occur. In the case of planned early closings (Parent-Teacher Conference Dates, day before Winter Break, etc.) school will close at 1:10 p.m. All students in grades 1-8 MUST stay in school for lunch on these days. |
